What are the Best Blenders?

The recommended best blenders for smoothies are between the Vitamix and the BlendTec – both of these are high powered blenders. Now depending on what ingredients you put in your smoothies will greatly depend on what kind of blender you will need.

How do I Determine if I need a High-powered Blender?

This is a very common question and one well worth asking. If you plan on making green smoothies or just smoothies in general for health than a high-powered blender is probably you best bet, and here’s why.

When you blend up greens in your blender you will need a strong –horse-power – motor, one that is strong enough to break down the internal molecular(s) that are in your produce.

Why is breaking down the internal molecular important?

Well, doing this allows the body to absorb more of the nutrients. To simplify – it basically means the blender has already “chewed your food for you” making it so that the digestive system can focus on absorbing the nutrients versus breaking down the food. It gives the digestive tract a break while at the same time flooding it with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and many more.

Most Conventional Blenders = less than 1 horsepower motors

A blender that has a motor less than 1 horsepower will work fine for you if you plan on sticking to “easy to blend” ingredients such as: bananas, blueberries, kiwi etc... However, they may not do such a good job when blending up: fibrous vegetables, (doesn’t do a good job in breaking down the internal molecular) nuts or ice in your smoothies.

Blenders with High Quality Horsepower

These are usually blenders usually have a horsepower somewhere between 2 to 3.5. They will blend almost anything. The creamy, smooth texture you always wanted is now a given!

These blenders (Vitamix and BlendTec) are pricey, but they also do a better job by breaking down the fibers in your fruits and vegetables, making it easier for your digestive system to extract nutrients from the produce.

Naturally, start with the blend you have. Make smoothies and see if you like it – for some reason it’s just kind of addiction to us, we love them! Anyway, if you decide you want to make smoothies regularly and you’re ready for the next step, you can make an upgrade to a better blender such as a Vitamix or a BlendTec.

Both of these blenders are fantastic machines. We own a Vitamix that we use multiple times every day, and have for the past 7 years – it has never broken down, we have never had to pay for repairs , we’ll have to say it’s by far the best blender we have ever owned.
