Breakfast Smoothies, can you think of a better way to start your morning?
If there’s one meal you shouldn’t miss, it’s breakfast. But when you are rushing off to school or work in the mornings, breakfast is the last thing on your mind.
Here, we have some fantastic breakfast smoothie recipes that are quick and easy and that are designed to provide you the necessary nutrients and energy you need for the day.
A little of this and a little of that and you can really kick-start your day – enjoy our recommendations below!
Most basic breakfast smoothies call for a liquid base to allow the solid ingredients to move around your blender to get the right thickness.
Here are a couple of different options for the base of your smoothie (and yes, you can use more than one!)
Water or Ice
If you want to keep your smoothie lower calorie – use water, it’s just as good – we promise! Ice will also give your drink a nice frothy consistency which is ideal for smoothies. And the best part about using water and ice is: it’s CHEAP!
You are not limited to what type of juice you can use – orange, apple, pineapple, cranberry or grape. It’s your choice.
Health tip: when using fruit juices be sure to stay away from the juices that contain high fructose corn syrup. Juices with these additives can affect blood sugar levels and digestion; therefore, use them in moderation. Remember, there is a difference between processed juices and freshly squeezed juices.
So, instead of using processed fruit juice from a bottle, throw in some fresh fruit such as an orange (they contain a lot of their own juices.) Remember, fresh is best!
Yogurt or Milk
These are the two most popular smoothie bases. Use either a cup of milk or a cup of yogurt to get started with your creation.
If you are dairy or lactose intolerant, no worries! Have you ever heard of almond milk? Yes, we said almond milk . It is a tasty, non-dairy, almond-based milk, plus it contains no soy!

Adding quality sources of protein to your smoothie has the ability to turn it into a complete meal – which is exactly what we want for breakfast! Here are our recommended sources of protein:
