Yes, we all know about chocolate smoothie recipes, but for this page we’re talking “true blue” raw chocolate (raw cacao) smoothie recipes! When you can, fresh is best as well as (when you can) raw is best!

Why Raw Cacao?

Well, anything fruit or vegetable is generally going to be healthier in its raw form (natural state) and the same thing is true with chocolate. Raw cacao (also known as raw chocolate) can be found in many different forms: whole beans, nibs or powder.

And we use raw because, when it is in its natural state it still maintains all of its nutrient contents (lots of antioxidants) – they haven’t been processed out. Therefore it’s better for you!

Do You Use Cacao Powder, Nibs, or Whole Beans for your Smoothies?

For making smoothies, we prefer cacao in the powder form. Because it blends well and keeps a nice smooth texture. If you want a chunkier taste/texture use the cacao nibs. If you use whole beans your smoothie can end up being a little gritty. But it’s all up to you! Play with it have fun and enjoy!


Raw Chocolate Smoothie Recipes

Chocolate Cinnamon Smoothie

½ cup almonds

2 cups water

2 medjool dates

½ tsp cinnamon

1 tsp raw cacao powder

1 banana, frozen if desired

Ice only if needed. If you use a frozen banana you won’t need ice.

Directions

Blend in your blender until smooth and enjoy!


Chocolate Strawberry Smoothie

4 strawberries, capped

1 cup almond milk, you can also use water

1 tsp raw cacao powder

½ tsp honey

½ cup yogurt, vanilla

½ cup ice, more if desired

Directions

Blend in your blender until smooth and enjoy!



Chocolate Breakfast Smoothie

1 cup water, you can also use milk or almond milk

1 banana

½ cup granola

1 tsp raw cacao powder

1 tsp honey

½ cup ice, more if desired

Directions

Blend in your blender until smooth and enjoy!


Chunky Chocolate Cherry Smoothie

1 cup cherries, pitted

1 banana, frozen

1 handful of spinach *optional

1 tbsp raw cacao nibs

1 cup almond milk, you can also use water

Ice if needed or if desired

Chocolate with a Tropical Twist Smoothie

2 tbsp coconut meat, fresh is best

1 cup pineapple, fresh is best

1 tbsp raw cacao powder

¼ cup water

½ tsp honey

If you want to add a little green to the mix throw in a handful of spinach!

1 cup ice

Directions

Blend in your blender until smooth and enjoy!
