A grapefruit smoothie…really! Yes, really! Grapefruits tend to blend well with other citrus fruits, so if you’re looking for a tropical tangy concoction, just throw a grapefruit in your blender, and PRESTO!

Vitamin C – these juicy treats are just loaded with vitamins and antioxidants. To be specific vitamin C is one of the first that come to mind!

Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin that is essential for helping the body repair tissues, blood vessels, skin etc… A medium sized grapefruit contains about 44 milligrams of vitamin C.

Vitamin A – grapefruit contains carotenoids that once in the body are converted into vitamin A. This vitamin is helpful to the eyes and skin!

Antioxidants – grapefruit contains many different varieties of powerful flavonoid antioxidants. Two of the most popular are Vitamin C (of course) and lycopene. Vitamin C supports the immune system. And lycopene helps protect the skin from damaging UV rays.

What Fruits Blend well with Grapefruit?

Excellent question! Grapefruit has a unique flavor; therefore, you will want to mix it with flavors that complement each other. Check out the combinations below:

Banana and Grapefruit – this is a great combination. You have the tartness of the grapefruit paired with another fruit that has a sweet/smooth texture to it. These two go well together.

Orange and Grapefruit – yep, putting two citrus fruits together probably doesn’t sound very good, but believe us… it is! Not only will this be a vitamin C packed smoothie, but it will be a delightfully sweet/ tangy concoction!

Grapefruit and Yogurt – Ok, yogurt isn’t a fruit, but it does go nicely with grapefruit. Add some granola to the blender and you will have an “out of this world” breakfast smoothie!

The Basic Grapefruit Smoothie

½ grapefruit, seeded and peeled

1 orange, seeded, and peeled

1 banana, frozen *if you don’t use a frozen banana add 1 cup of ice

Directions

Blend in your blender until smooth and enjoy!


Grapefruit Breakfast Smoothie

¼ grapefruit, seeded and peeled

1 banana

½ cup granola

½ cup yogurt

½ cup almond milk, more if needed

Ice as needed

Grapefruit Strawberry Smoothie

½ grapefruit, seeded and peeled

2 to 3 strawberries, capped

1 banana

1 tbsp honey

1 cup ice

Directions

Blend in your blender until smooth and enjoy!


Grapefruit Mango Smoothie

½ grapefruit, seeded and peeled

1 mango, pitted

1 banana

If you want to add a little green to this smoothie, throw in a handful of spinach.

4 strawberries, capped

1 orange, seeded and peeled
