A guava smoothie sounds interesting! Guava Fruit is a very flavorful type of produce that will give your smoothie concoction a nice tropical sweet/tart, yum!

What is Guava Fruit?

Commonly grown in the Caribbean, guava is kin to the Myrtle family or pomegranate family, also another tropical fruit.

Guava is an evergreen tree that can reach up to 33 feet in height with it’s leaves bearing a nice green color combined with a leathery texture.

This tree bears fruit by starting out with a little white flower that matures into a beautifully well rounded fruit.


Guava Nutrition Facts

Dietary Fiber – guava is an excellent source of dietary fiber. Fiber aids the body in eliminating harmful toxins as well as protecting the colon mucous membrane because fiber decreases the amount of time the colon is exposed to the toxins.

Good for the Eyes – guava contains good levels of: vitamin A which is good for both skin and eye health, but it also contains the antioxidants beta-carotene and lutein . Both of these antioxidants are extremely good for the eyes, but especially lutein because it is found in both the retina and the lens of the eye.

Mineral Rich – both vitamins and minerals are necessary nutrients that the body must have in order to function properly. That is why eating foods high in vitamins and minerals are very important, and guava is no slacker on this one. Guava contains: potassium, copper, manganese as well as magnesium.

Vitamin C Rich – guava is also an excellent source of the antioxidant vitamin C. This important antioxidant helps to body by working along with other antioxidants to keep those unwanted out control free radicals at bay. This is a very important element for keeping the immune system strong.

When buying Guavas….

Look for the ones that have a smooth outer skin and give slightly to gentle pressure. Avoid the guavas that are hard or too soft. Best time to buy a guava fruit is from late spring, summer and early fall. Always buy seasonal fruit when you can!

Guava Strawberry Smoothie

½ guava fruit

5 strawberries

1 banana

1 cup milk – you can also use almond milk

1 cup spinach

Ice as needed

Directions

Blend in your blender until smooth and enjoy!


Guava Peach Smoothie

2 peaches – pitted

½ guava fruit

1 kiwi – peeled

1 orange – seeded and peeled

1 cup milk – you can also use almond milk

1 cup ice

Directions

Blend in your blender until smooth and enjoy!



Delicious Guava Smoothie

½ guava fruit

1 banana – use frozen if you don’t want to add ice

1 ½ tsp lemon juice

1 cup orange juice

1 tbsp honey

1 cup ice

Directions

Blend in your blender until smooth and enjoy!


Tropical Guava Blend Smoothie

½ guava fruit

½ cup pineapple

½ kiwi – pitted

½ banana

1 tsp lime juice

½ cup almond milk

½ cup ice, add more if needed

Directions

Basic Guava Blueberry Smoothie

½ guava fruit

1 cup blueberries

½ cup spinach, you won’t be able to taste it – we promise!

1 cup milk – you can also use almond milk

Ice as needed
