The Essentials for a Healthy Breakfast in a Smoothie

Liquid – starting out with a healthy liquid for your base is important. Some of the ones we enjoy using are: water, almond milk, fresh squeezed juice etc…

Fruit – taste absolutely delicious yet provides necessary nutrients for the body!

Greens – the energy kicker! Greens are very nourishing to the body. Consuming them first thing in the morning (in your breakfast smoothie) is a great way to provide your body with solid nutrients!  

Oats – healthy grains, yum! For oats, we recommend the old fashion rolled oats over the instant oats for two reasons. They are less processed and better for you. The instant oats will work if that’s all you have, but rolled oats are definitely a better choice.

Healthy Sweeteners – yes, you can use natural sweeteners! Honey and Stevia are both excellent options! People often use these sweeteners to sweeten their coffee or tea, but they can also be used in smoothies! Just remember a little goes a long way!

Yummy Additives for Healthy Breakfast Smoothies

Coconut Oil – when mixed with a slightly colder substance coconut oil will harden, and if blended up with the rest of your smoothie will act as a thickening agent. Not to mention the health benefits that comes from consuming coconut oil.

Granola – yes, it can go in smoothies too! Adding a ½ cup of granola to your smoothie will give it some substance as well as give it a nice yummy crunchy texture! You’ll love it!

Flax Seed Oil – is a good source of healthy omega 3 fatty acids. Adding just a tablespoon of flax seed oil or flax powder to your smoothie will give it a huge boost in the omega 3 department. Go omega 3’s!

Healthy Pomegranate Berry Smoothie

2 cups of berries, of your choice – can be strawberries, blueberries, raspberries etc…

½ cup pomegranate juice

1 banana, frozen – if you don’t use a frozen banana be sure to add a cup of ice.

½ cup yogurt, vanilla

½ cup water

Directions

Blend in your blender until smooth and enjoy!


Raspberry Orange Green Smoothie

1 avocado, pitted

½ cup orange juice

½ cup water

½ cup raspberries

½ banana

1 handful of spinach

1 cup ice

Directions

Blend in your blender until smooth and enjoy!



Vitamin C Packed Energizing Smoothie

1 orange, peeled and seeded

½ cup yogurt, vanilla

½ cup orange juice

1 cup ice

*you can add a handful of spinach for some “green” nutrition!

Green Tea Smoothie

2 cup water

1 green tea bag

¾ cup blueberries

½ banana

1 tbsp honey

¼ cup almond milk

Ice as desired

Pineapple Passion Baby Smoothie

1 cup fresh pineapple

¼ cup water

1 cup ice

½ banana

1 handful of spinach *optional
