Add some Fresh Kale Juice to Make your Kale Smoothie Complete!

Kale anything is yummy, when in soups, in salads and even kale juice, when, of course, mixed with a dominantly flavored fruit – it’s just delicious!

Now, just remember (for your smoothie recipes) a little kale juice goes a long way, and it does best when balanced with other flavors other than straight green!

What’ so Good about Kale?

Now, you mention kale and all you see are raised eyebrows…and their thinking…huh? Yep, believe or not, but kale is far too often the hardly noticed powerful green food that when consumed has amazing benefits.

Check out some of the benefits of kale below:

Chlorophyll – is the pigment found in green plants such as kale, spinach etc… Chlorophyll pigment works in the plants by allowing them to convert carbon dioxide into oxygen and water into glucose, thus producing good energy levels. Because of its excellent chlorophyll levels kale is a wonderful detoxification vegetable.

Phytonutrients - are health promoting compounds found within a plant (or vegetable) such as chlorophyll, beta-carotene etc… containing antioxidant properties that are beneficial to the body. Kale is a bitter green that contains many, many phytonutrients, which are very beneficial to the liver.

Vitamins – kale is a wonderful source of the vitamins: A, C and K. Both vitamin A and C are powerful antioxidants that help promote healthy eye sight, good skin and a supports immune health. Vitamin K contains a protein that helps to strengthen our bones, and just over all supports normal bone health.

Minerals – yes, kale has minerals too! Quite a few actually! It contains calcium, zinc, manganese and is extremely high in iron, which is an essential part of helping to transport oxygen to various parts of the body, thus promoting good cell growth. Kale is sometimes considered the vegetarian’s source of iron.

How to Make Juiced Kale Taste Good!

Ok, we admit it…juiced kale is not the most delectable drink there is, but if you spin it right it does have potential. When juicing any green be sure to pare it with a dominate flavored fruit or a more pleasant tasting vegetable (cucumber?). Doing this will cancel out the bitterness “affect” and leave you with a more palatable concoction.

Also, using your juiced kale as the base of your smoothie is an excellent way to hide its bitterness. Just cover it right up with a couple slices of pineapple or mango and that should do it.
